Nashville-based Hunter Industrial moving headquarters to Smyrna - Daily News Journal

A Nashville company with Memphis roots is moving its headquarters to Smyrna Airport Business Park this year.

"Hunter Industrial currently has 28 employees in Nashville who will all be relocating to the new facility," spokeswoman Rachel Davis said. "The company expects 15 jobs to be added over the next three years."

Hunter Industrial, a division of Hunter Fan Co., has signed a lease for 101,000 square feet of space in a warehouse at 180 Threet Industrial Road off Sam Ridley Parkway. The company, which opened in Nashville in 2016, expects to move into the space by May.

The company's decision to move to Smyrna pleased Town Manager Brian Hercules.

"The town of Smyrna is excited to welcome Hunter Fans into our community," Hercules said. "They are a well-known brand. We're excited to know they made a decision to locate their showroom and manufacturing facility to Smyrna, and we look forward to working with them."

Hunter Industrial will move into one of the Hillwood development warehouses at the Smyrna Airport Business Park with Franke Foodservice Systems as a neighbor, said John Black, executive director of the airport.

Testing lab will be part of plan

Known for testing all of its fans before shipment, Hunter Industrial’s new location in Smyrna will provide a state-of-the-art customer experience center and training facility that includes an industry-leading testing lab.

Founded in 1886, the company touts itself as the creator of the ceiling fan, according to its website.

The space will be triple the size of Hunter Industrial's existing operation near Nashville International Airport. The Smyrna site will include a full commercial and industrial manufacturing, research and development facility in addition to its corporate offices.

Hunter Fan Co.'s residential division will remain in Memphis.

Hunter Industrial's debut product, the Titan HVLS fan, includes blade spans ranging from 14 to 24 feet. It can be found in places such as Second Harvest Food Bank, Nashville Farmers' Market and Yazoo Brewery.

Hunter Fan purchased Jan Fan, a manufacturer and distributor of fixed and rolling-mount caged fans last fall.

More companies expected to come

Town Councilman Tim Morrell said Smyrna offers what many companies want.

"Companies are seeking Smyrna out because of our low taxes, quality neighborhoods and the lifestyle we provide, from the roadway improvement projects to the parks that we have," Morrell said.

The councilman said the town also has quality health care services from StoneCrest Medical Center and others, and strong Rutherford County schools.

"I think we are going to continue to see companies leave Nashville and other areas, and come to Smyrna for all the things that we offer," Morrell said.
