A proposed development in Temecula’s French Valley area that will combine retail with industrial buildings will begin moving forward thanks to a $19.8 loan.
In a statement, Parkview Financial, a Los Angeles-based lender, said it has funded the loan to developer A Development Partners for the first phase of French Valley Commons at the intersection of Leon and Benton Roads. The phase will consist of nine buildings totaling 87,231 square feet.
Six of those buildings will house retailers. Space has already been pre-leased to O’Reilly Auto Parts, Jiffy Lube and Dollar Tree. Construction has already started on the retail buildings and on one of the industrial sites, with openings anticipated in the first half of 2021.
The industrial buildings have also drawn interest from regional owner-users, according to the statement, with Lee & Associates handling the leasing.
The second phase will move forward depending on the interest generated by the first phase.
See’s Candies to open in Jurupa Valley
See’s Candies is continuing a national expansion by opening its newest store in Jurupa Valley this week. The new location is at the Vernola Marketplace, 6205 Pats Ranch Road.
The grand opening and ribbon cutting will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 24. Pat Egan, the CEO of See’s Candies plans to attend the ceremony.
San Bernardino retail parcel sold
A retail parcel in downtown San Bernardino with two major tenants has been sold to Costa Mesa-based investor Wood Investment Cos. for an undisclosed price.
The parcel, currently with Food 4 Less and Ross Dress For Less stores, is in the 500 block of West Second St.
In a statement, Wood Investment said it also plans to tear down a vacant building formerly occupied by Union Bank and build complementary retail sites.
The sellers were Canyon Developer LLC and 505 West Second LLC.
Apartments sell for $14.25 million
Golden Sands, a 120-unit apartment complex in Victorville, has been sold for $14.25 million to a Los Angeles-based real estate investment and property management firm, according to a CBRE statement.
The property, at 15930 Nisquali Road, is comprised of mostly two-bedroom units. The new owner plans extensive renovations to the complex later this year.
Hanes Investment Realty is the buyer. The seller, Los Angeles-based Positive Investments, was represented by CBRE.
Palm Desert retail pads sell for $8.9M
Two retail pads that flank an Albertsons location in a Palm Desert shopping center have been sold in separate deals, NAI Capital’s Investment Services Division said in a statement.
The complex is on Highway 111 at the intersection of Deep Canyon Drive.
One parcel, which includes Panda Express, Domino’s Pizza and Best City Nails locations, was sold to College Station LLC for $4,326,331.
The other pad was bought by 1331 S. Mission Road LLC for $4,584,669 and is home to Starbucks, Express Frame, Fantastic Sams and Poolwerx locations, among others.
Albertsons was not involved in either transaction. Both pads are 100% leased, and the seller, a family trust, was not identified.
Mental health, addiction clinic opens
Jackson House Temecula, a facility that offers short-term treatment for mental health and addictive disease patients, is opening in Temecula.
According to a statement, the facility is a “voluntary, short-term recovery-based program where residents can receive focused and structured treatment.”
The 5,500-square-foot facility will formally open in February and include 16 beds in semi-private rooms. Jackson House Temecula is affiliated with the Alvarado Parkway Institute Behavioral Health System.
The facility is at 28999 Old Town Front Street.
Temecula plans career workshop
Temecula is offering a free 90-minute workshop next month designed to help residents hone their job-search skills.
The Career Prep Day will from 6:30 to 8 p.m. be on Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Ronald H. Roberts Temecula Public Library, 30600 Pauba Road.
Carrie-Tate Meyer, job developer and placement coordinator at Mt. San Jacinto College, will advise people in writing résumés and cover letters and in interview skills. The event, sponsored by Friends of the Temecula Library, is open to the public.

Summer interns sought
A program that recruits Southern California high school students for summer internships at nonprofit agencies is seeking applicants for paid positions.
Bank of America, the program’s sponsor, will screen high school juniors and seniors in all six Southern California counties. Students who are accepted will learn how the nonprofit world works and attend a leadership summit in Washington, D.C.

Stater Bros. refurbishes three stores
Stater Bros. continues to refurbish its stores, with spruced-up locations revealed in San Bernardino and Orange counties.
Grand reopenings were at 42171 Big Bear Road in Big Bear; 1111 East Imperial Highway in Placentia; and 22201 Barton Road in Grand Terrace.
The renovations in Big Bear, a store that opened almost 40 years ago, were the most extensive. They include adding a full-service deli, a hot bakery and fresh fish counter, expanded meat and produce offerings and widened aisles.
Farmer Boys names new SVP
Restaurant industry veteran David Wetzel has been named senior vice president for operations for Riverside-based Farmer Boys. He will oversee both restaurant and franchise operations.
Wetzel comes to Farmer Boys from Del Taco, where he was vice president for franchise operations. In his 35-year career, he also held key positions at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Taco Bell and El Pollo Loco.
SBA taps new specialist
The U.S. Small Business Administration has named Godfrey Hinds its lead economic development specialist for its Orange County/Inland Empire office.
Hinds will lead a team to develop initiatives for businesses that use SBA services to further their growth. He comes to the SBA from the U.S. Department of Agriculture where he worked on development projects in Arizona, Florida, Texas, Georgia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Accounting firm names shareholder
RP&B CPAs, a Riverside-based accounting firm, has named Fernando Ayala a shareholder.
Ayala works with companies and high net-worth individuals on state, federal and international tax law and compliance.
He has been with RP&B CPAs for 12 years and previously worked in private industry. He is a member of the California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Soles4Souls at Coldwell Banker
Select offices of real estate firm Coldwell Banker in Orange and Riverside counties are accepting donations of new or almost-new shoes to aid a fund-raising drive for Soles4Souls.
The shoes will be donated to would-be entrepreneurs who sell them and other items to generate start-up cash for businesses. Collections will go on until Jan. 31.
