The Locust Grove City Council voted at its Dec. 2 regular meeting to rezone a 29-acre site on the northern end of Jackson Street, near Hwy. 42, from RA (residential-agricultural) to M-1 (light manufacturing) so it can be combined with additional tracts already zoned for an industrial/distribution facility. The proposed development, known as Gardner Commerce Center, consists of one industrial warehouse measuring just over 1,250,000 square feet. A separate vote approved the amending of the city’s Future Land Use Map designation from low-density residential to industrial. When recommending approval, city staff noted that the council should minimize any possible negative effects on the remaining properties in the immediate area.
